About the speakers

DEAN KARNAZES

Marin local Dean Karnazes has raced and competed across the globe, including running across Death Valley in the middle of summer and running a marathon to the South Pole.

Combining his love for running an adventure, he once ran 50 marathons, and all 50 US states, in 50 consecutive days. He is a New York Times best selling author and his latest book is titled, A Runner’s High.

NICHOLAS TSOTU

Nicholas Tsotu, who runs for the Sacramento Running Association elite team, has amassed more than 150 race wins in a wide variety of distances and disciplines, including triathlons, obstacle course racing, trail, track and road races from 1 mile to 45.9 miles.

As a self-coached athlete, one of his proudest accomplishments is that he continues to improve, even at the age of 36, running personal bests in the 5k (15:09), half marathon (1:08:05), and marathon (2:22:27) all in 2022.
Now his primary goal is to run under 2:18 in the marathon to qualify for the 2024 US Olympic Trials.
